For its large size you can still muster 240bph with elegant control from this manual, rear wheel drive, petrol engine. Naturally, the interior is finely upholstered in the refined way you would expect from a Jaguar.

Mercedes CLK 320 CDi Sport (2009) – another classic, this 2-door, automatic, Sport model can find 221bhp from its diesel engine, with reasonable fuel economy for such a powerful car. This slightly more recent model also comes with more of the modern conveniences you see in new cars, which just further complements the comfort of the ride.

Volkswagen Golf GT Sport 2.0 TDI 170 (2008) – a popular choice; this smaller but still incredibly quick (168bhp) car that handles beautifully around corners. This automatic model, also finds decent fuel economy but is best suited for driving around country roads and making the most of the excellent control.
