Video – 2016 Mercedes E-Class spied

A new spy video has emerged with the all-new 2016 Mercedes E-Class. The mid-size model from Daimler will ride on the same MRA platform as the C-Class and even though it will be a bit bigger than the outgoing model, it will be significantly lighter as a result of the new architecture. The increased proportions should also enable a more spacious cabin as well as a bigger trunk while the list of goodies will include a remote parking system controllable via a smartphone app, along with adaptive headlights that have 84 LEDs. It’s also getting airbags mounted in the rear seatbelts, along with an adaptive cruise control system which will be able to adjust speed based on the road signs.

Details about the engine lineup are scare at the moment, but most of them will likely be carried over from the latest C-Class. There could also be a new family of inline-six units including a 2.9-liter twin-turbodiesel pushing out 313 bhp while a quad-turbo version (with two e-turbos) should deliver more than 400 bhp. The twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter will equip the E63 AMG and it will deliver more than the current 510 PS and 650 Nm of torque.

The 2016 Mercedes E-Class will be introduced in Detroit at NAIAS set for January next year.
