Ariel in collaboration with TMI AutoTech have introduced the Atom 3S which is the second most powerful variant of the model after the V8 variant. Its heart and soul is a 2.4-liter engine borrowed from Honda which in this application has been tuned to develop no less than 365 HP (268 kW) and a maximum torque of 310 lb-ft (420 Nm). It can work with a standard, close-ratio or a newly developed six-speed Sadev transmission equipped with steering column-mounted paddles. Stopping power is provided by four-piston brake calipers on all wheels while the suspension system benefits from adjustable dampers.
Most importantly, the track toy promises to provide a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) run in less than 2.8 seconds while the quarter mile will be done in just 10.7 seconds.
The Ariel Atom 3S costs $89,750 and has been equipped with a full glass screen ensuring great visibility, race-spec composite seat and a full LCD display will provide the driving with all the relevant data such as gear position, rpm, speed, fuel level and temperature.
