Aston Martin Rapide S breaks cover

Aston Martin has revised its four-door GT model which will be known from now on as the Rapide S. The added letter marks an increase in output as the V12 5.9-liter naturally-aspirated engine is now capable of pumping out 550 hp (an extra 80 hp) while the torque figure has also increased by 20 lb-ft to 620 lb-ft.

Thanks to the added oomph, the Rapide S should be able to perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) task in 4.9 seconds, which would make it 0.3 seconds faster than the model it replaces. The top speed has also increased from the previous 188 mph to 190 mph.

Although more power is available, the Rapide S is more economical since it can return 19.9 mpg (up by 0.9 mpg) and has CO2 emissions of 332 g/km, whereas the older model has 355 g/km. In terms of looks, not many things to report but we do notice the significantly larger front grille and an updated rear spoiler.

Aston Martin will offer an optional Carbon Exterior Pack bringing a rear diffuser, front splitter, rear lamp infills and exterior mirror housings made from carbon fiber. Inside the cabin it boasts a new piano black trim and is optionally available with new Duotone red/black leather upholstery.
