Audi R8 Competition unleashed with 570 bhp

The last hurrah for the first-gen R8 has been revealed this week by Audi in the form of a special “Competition” edition which will be limited to 60 cars offered only in United States. Described as being the “most powerful Audi production vehicle to-date”, the model makes use of a naturally aspirated V10 5.2-liter engine that churns an impressive 570 bhp (425 kW) sent to a quattro all-wheel drive system through a seven-speed S tronic transmission. It will do the 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) sprint in only 3.2 seconds before hitting a maximum speed of 199 mph (320 km/h).

The Audi R8 competition can be visually distinguished by its matte carbon fiber side blades, front spoiler, mirror caps, rear wing and rear diffuser, as well as by the glossy black alloy wheels and the sports exhaust system which benefits from glossy black end pipes. The supercar has been equipped with anodized red brake calipers, carbon ceramic brakes and numerous interior upgrades like the illuminated door sill plates and a matte carbon fiber trim.

The order books will open next month and the cars will start reaching their rightful owners in the beginning of 2015.
