Audi has staged the world debut of the R8 e-tron piloted driving concept in Shanghai at CES Asia 2015. Based on the pure electric R8 supercar, the company’s third autonomous concept benefits from several sensors and video cameras, newly developed laser scanner, ultrasonic and radar sensors as well as a revised central driver assistance control unit. The hardware was added for the purpose of generating a comprehensive picture of the vehicle’s surroundings.
Other than that, it’s identical the R8 e-tron piloted driving concept is identical to the electrified R8 so it packs the same 462 PS and 920 Nm output thanks to two electric motors granting a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 3.9 seconds while the battery pack has enough juice for a maximum range of 280 miles (450 km). A full recharge takes less than two hours when the vehicle is equipped with the Combined Charging System (CCS) which grants recharging with both direct and alternating current.
Audi says the R8 e-tron piloted driving concept has a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) or 130 mph (210 km/h), depending on the car’s tires.
