Audi could launch a VW up!-based EV in 2015

An interesting report has surfaced the Internet concerning Audi who might be working on its own version of the Volkswagen up! but with some significant changes.

First and foremost, it seems that Audi’s variant will actually be an electric vehicle rather than the conventional-powered VW model.

In addition, it is expected the car will have a more upscale interior to match the Audi badge, while the exterior appearance will be significantly different in comparison to how the VW up! looks.

The same rumors are hinting at a better battery pack which will enable the small Audi electric vehicle to provide a maximum range of 125 miles (200 km) on just one charge. This is a lot better than the up! which can travel for 93 miles (150 km) with its 18.7 kWh battery pack. The electric motor of Audi’s EV will generate 114 bhp and 199 lb-ft of torque which should send the car to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 9.3s. Top speed is estimated at 93 mph (150 km/h).
