BMW 3-Series GT makes official online debut

BMW has released the first official photos and details with the upcoming 3-Series Gran Turismo which is scheduled to make its public debut in several weeks at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Compared to the Touring version, the GT is 200mm longer and 81mm taller, while its wheelbase has been extended by 110mm.

There aren’t any major changes inside the cabin but we should mention the raised seating positions and an additional 70mm of rear seat legroom. The boot is capable of storing 520 liters of cargo, while with the rear seats folded down the cargo room increases to 1,600 liters.

In terms of engines, it can be ordered with five engines, with outputs varying from 143 HP (105 kW) to 306 HP (225 kW). Regardless of the engine choice, BMW is offering a 6-speed manual transmission or for more money the 8-speed automatic gearbox. The most powerful engine would have to be the 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-6 which has a peak torque of 295 lb-ft (400 Nm).

The BMW 3-Series GT will be offered with the usual Sport Line, Luxury Line and Modern Line styling kits, as well as 18-inch alloys, sport-tuned suspension and aero body kit – all available within the M Sport package which also includes a shadow line trim.
