BMW 328d xDrive Sports Wagon announced for U.S.

BMW has announced plans of offering a diesel variant of the 3-Series estate in the United States. They will sell the 328 xDrive Sports Wagon variant from this fall as a 2014 model year. It comes with a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine outputting 180 hp (134 kW) and a peak torque of 379 Nm (280 lb-ft). Linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the car will reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in a little over seven seconds. BMW says the car will return 32 mpg in the city, 45 mpg on the highway and 37 mpg in the combined cycle. Unlike the 3-Series diesel sedan, the touring variant will be sold exclusively in the xDrive all-wheel drive configuration.

Just like the gasoline-powered versions of the 3-Series available on the U.S. market, the 2014 BMW 328 xDrive Sports Wagon will be available in Luxury, Sport and Modern trims, along with the possibility of opting for the M Sport Package.
