BMW announces 2014 X5 M50d for Europe
Following the introduction of the third-gen X5 about three months ago, BMW is back with an expansion to its lineup by adding the M50d version for the European market. Set to hit dealerships on November 16, this new X5 variant is equipped with a tri-turbocharged 3.0-liter Euro 6-compliant diesel engine generating 381 HP and a maximum torque of 740 Nm. It works together with an 8-speed automatic transmission sending power to the xDrive all-wheel drive setup. Thanks to this setup, the 2014 BMW X5 M50d will reach 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 5.3 seconds.
Despite the impressive performances, this diesel-powered X5 remains quite a frugal vehicle since it has a fuel consumption of only 6.7 liters / 100 km while CO2 emissions stand at 177 g/km. According to the Bavarian marque, the second iteration of the X5 M50d is more than 10 percent more economical than the model it replaces.
It has been fitted with 19-inch double-spoke lightweight M alloy wheels shod in all-season tires. It comes as standard with Adaptive M suspension, rear air suspension and Dynamic Damper Control. For more money it can be configured with the Dynamic Adaptive Suspension Package that had Dynamic Performance Control and Dynamic Drive Active Roll Stabilization.
