The BMW i3 has received a significant price bump for 2015MY which now starts at $43,350, thus making it $1,075 more expensive than previous model year. The price tag includes the $950 handling and destination charge which has increased by $25 compared to 2014MY. As for the range-extending i3 REx variant, this one begins at $47,200. The increased price is justifiable to some extent as the 2015 model year brings more additional standard equipment in the form of satellite radio, heated seats and DC fast-charging.
The BMW i3 continues with the same hardware setup so the full electric variant called “BEV” has an electric motor producing 170 HP and 184 lb-ft working together with a 22 kWh lithium-ion battery allowing the model to return an impressive 124 MPGe. As for the i3 REx, this one has the same electric motor and battery pack but adds a two-cylinder range-extending gasoline engine which grants the model with a 117 MPGe rating or 39 mpg in hybrid mode.
