Citroen reveals DS3 Cabrio, public debut in Paris next month

The French automaker Citroen has released the first official photos of the upcoming DS3 Cabrio that is scheduled to make its public debut at the end of September during the Paris Motor Show, before going on sale in early 2013. It comes with an electrically-operated canvas roof that needs just 16 seconds to be completely closed, and this can be done at speeds of up to 74 mph. In the ceiling console there’s a button that can open and close the roof to three positions: intermediate, horizontal and total. Just like other models offered by Citroen part of the DS range, this one too will be available with a long list of personalization options, one example being the roof which will be sold in three styles: light-reflecting blue, black and DS Monogramme.

Along the width of the rear there’s a new spoiler, while other features worth mentioning include rear LED lights and aerodynamic deflectors on the quarter light surrounds. Even though it comes with a folding roof, Citroen says that the DS3 Cabrio offers the same amount of interior space as its hatchback counterpart. It can accommodate up to five people and comes with a generous 245-liter boot, making it considerably bigger than the one of the Fiat 500C which provides just 184 liters.
