Good news for those who are interested in buying the Focus Electric as Ford has slashed the price of the 2015 model year by a significant $6,000. This means the fully electric hatchback now carries a starting price of $29,995 which puts it on just about the same price level as the Nissan Leaf that is available from $29,860. Aside from being significantly cheaper than before, the Focus Electric packs more equipment as Ford has added standard goodies such as HD radio, perimeter alarm, rear view camera, leather parking brake handle, MyKey and SYNC.
Just like before, the 2015 Ford Focus Electric is powered by an electric motor developing 143 bhp (107 kW) and an instant torque of 250 Nm (184 lb-ft). It works with a lithium-ion battery that has a capacity of 23 kWh and allows the vehicle to reach a top speed of 84 mph (135 km/h). More importantly, the electrified Focus will return 110 MPGe in the city, 99 MPGe on the highway and 105 MPGe in the combined cycle.
