Lamborghini Aventador Roadster has a carbon fiber roof

Lamborghini has finally revealed the Roadster version of its Aventador supercar. It comes with a two-piece hard top made from carbon fiber that has to be removed by hand. The Italian company says that this process is very easy to do given the design and low curb weight (13 pounds). After it is removed, this roof can be stored in the vehicle’s front luggage compartment. There are a few changes in comparison to the coupe, such as the redesigned rear pillar supporting the roof which now has an automatic protection system for the driver and passenger, while at the same time providing additional ventilation to the Aventador’s V12 engine.

The rear window can be lowered or raised and there’s also a wind deflector for lowering air turbulences. This can also be stored in the front luggage compartment. The windows now have chamfered edges so that they can fit snugly with the hard top’s edges. Customers will be able to get the Aventador Roadster with a new Azzuro Thetis paint that reminds us of the 1968 Miura Roadster. It rides on a new set of Dione forged alloys that weigh 22 pounds less and measure 20 inches in the front and 21 inches at the back.

At the heart of this open-top supercar is the same V12 normally-aspirated 6.5-liter engine putting out 700 HP. Power is sent to all four wheels via a single-clutch, semi-automatic, seven-speed gearbox. 0-62 mph is completed in three seconds and can reach a top speed of 217 mph.

Pricing starts from 300,000 euros without taking into account taxes. The price tag in United States will be announced in the weeks to come.
