McLaren introduces 675 LT Spider limited edition
McLaren has staged the world premiere of the 675 LT Spider limited edition set to go on sale next year. It’s basically an open-top version of the coupe and comes with just about the same aggressive body featuring a big front splitter, revised side skirts and a newly developed active Longtail airbrake 50% bigger compared to the one on other Super Series models. The vehicle has received a bespoke titanium dual exhaust setup and rides on unique 19-inch front & 20-inch rear forged alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero R tires. As for the retractable folding hardtop, it can be operated at speeds of up to 19 mph (30 km/h).
Motivation for the McLaren 675 LT Spider is provided by the familiar V8 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine that produces 675 PS (496 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. It’s 25 PS (18 kW) and 22 Nm (16 lb-ft) more than the 650S Spider thanks to the new turbochargers, updated cylinder heads and revised exhaust manifolds. The motor also benefits from new lightweight connecting rods, crankshaft and a high-flow fuel pump.
It needs just 2.9 seconds to cover the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint and 8.1 seconds for the 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) task before topping out at 203 mph (326 km/h).
Only 500 units will ever be made and McLaren says deliveries will begin in the summer of 2016 to those willing to pay at least the starting price of £285,450.
