Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG coming soon

The most powerful A-Class ever is getting closer and closer to its launch date. These are the most revealing photos of the hot entry-level model from Mercedes-Benz which is expected to feature the AMG Sport styling package which is available for the standard variant. There are a few differences, such as the larger 18-inch multi-spoke alloys, the trapezoidal tailpipes and the honeycomb grille inserts. However, what’s hiding under the hood is totally different as AMG’s engineers have put in a lot of work for creating a powerful A-Class with a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo engine with direct-injection.

Earlier this year, the officials from the German automaker said that the power unit will be tuned to output somewhere around 330 hp and more than 295 lb-ft of torque, but AMG has managed to do an even more impressive job than that, increasing output to 350 hp and 332 lb-ft. In other words, it’s more powerful than the Audi RS3 Sportback with its 335 hp and also more potent than the BMW M135i which pumps out 315 hp.

This powerful engine will be connected to a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT dual clutch transmission which will transfer the power to all four wheels. As you would expect, the chassis has been reworked and there’s a new suspension, while the steering system has been updated as well.

The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is expected to make its official debut in March 2013 during the Geneva Motor Show, before going on sale later on that same year. It will not be offered in the United States because for that market Mercedes will offer the CLA 45 AMG.
