Mercedes-Benz unveils V-Class-based Marco Polo

Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off the Marco Polo in Düsseldorf, Germany at the 2014 Carvan Salon. As you might have guessed already, the vehicle is based on the recently introduced V-Class and serves as a combination between a van and a camper featuring an interior configuration tailored to family vacations. It can be fitted with leather or fabric seats, porcelain-colored surfaces and a yacht-inspired wood flooring combined with metallic accents, LED interior lightning and a piano black trim. Inside you will also find a sink, a refrigerator, cupboard, adjustable folding tables, a closet and a kitchenette with two gas burners.

It also boasts two electrically-adjustable individual rear seats which can be converted into a bed after pressing a button. Moreover, in the pop-up roof compartment there’s a second bed characterized as a high quality foam mattress.

The Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo can be powered by 4-cylinder diesel engines starting with the 200 CDI variant rated at 136 PS and 330 Nm. Opt for the 220 CDI and you get 163 PS and 380 Nm while the range-topper is rated at 190 PS and 440 Nm or 204 PS and 480 Nm for a short amount of time during heavy accelerations.

Mercedes-Benz says sales of the V-Class-based Marco Polo will kick off on July 29.
