Mercedes impresses Paris crowd with SLS AMG Electric Drive

One of the most impressive cars exhibited at this year’s edition of the Paris Motor Show is without any doubt the gorgeous Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive. The German automaker is advertising this model as being the most powerful electric car in the world.

This is of course the all-electric variant of the SLS AMG and in this greener variant it gets no less than four electric motors located each close to the wheels, granting the supercar with a combined total output of 740 hp (552 kW or 750 PS) and an impressive maximum torque of 737.5 lb-ft (1,000 Nm).

With so much power available, it should not come as a surprise that the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive is able to perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in only 3.9 seconds, before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). It features two independent gearboxes that are capable of providing drive to each of the axles. The car’s AMG Torque Dynamics can provide selective drive to individual wheel, depending on the available traction, through three modes: comfort, sport and sport plus.

It is scheduled to go on sale sometime next year and it will have a base price in Germany of 416,500 euros, including VAT which makes it more than double when compared to the conventionally-powered SLS AMG GT Coupe.
