Porsche showcases on video the 1949 Gmund Coupe

What we have here is actually the first model that Porsche has ever made, the Gmund Coupe. It’s actually a precursor of the beautiful 356. Back in 1949 the company’s headquarters were in Gmund, Austria and they built 50 units of the Gmund Coupe in a small sawmill. The car showcased in this video is actually the last one, featuring the chassis number 50. After the Gmund Coupe, the Germany commissioned Reutter Karosserie from Stuttgart to produce the vehicle’s steel body, thus leading to the creation of the Porsche 356.
