Ram 1500 Rebel bows at NAIAS
Described as being a “one-of-a-kind” off-road-oriented pickup truck, the Ram 1500 Rebel has been introduced in Detroit at the 2015 NAIAS. It adopts a more rugged exterior design with a beefier front fascia packing a power-coated bumper, two recovery hooks as well as a silver skid plate. It also benefits from LED-infused headlights and what Ram calls as being a “twin-snorkel sport hood” made from aluminum. Other highlights worth mentioning include the 17-inch matte black alloys wrapped around in 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T all-terrain tires, a tri-fold tonneau cover, extended fender flares and a dual exhaust system with chromed pipes.
Stepping inside the cabin, the Ram 1500 Rebel has received “technical grain” vinyl-wrapped seats which have Sedoso fabric inserts. It also gets heated front seats, revised center console as well as Radar Red anodized accents and an Iron Gray Metallic trim.
Set to be offered only with a crew cab configuration, it will come with a 5 foot 7 inch long bed while under the hood it gets a V6 Pentastar 3.6-liter engine with 305 bhp & 269 lb-ft. If this isn’t enough, customers will be able to order the Ram 1500 Rebel with a larger V8 HEMI 5.7-liter engine unleashing 395 bhp and 410 lb-ft of torque. These engines work with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and an optional 4WD layout.
Sales of the Ram 1500 Rebel will kick off in the second half of the year.
