Renaultsport unleashes R.S. 01 racecar

Renaultsport is proud to introduce the R.S. 01 racecar which starting 2015 will take part in a new one-make championship called Renaultsport Trophy as part of the World Series by Renault. The track weapon comes with a Dallara-developed carbon fiber monocoque chassis meeting LMP1 regulation and together with the composite body helps the R.S. 01 have a curb weight of less than 1,100 kg. It features LED taillights as well as a generous rear wing together with a dual exhaust arrangement and a front lower splitter.

Motivation is provided by a Nismo-tuned V6 3.8-liter twin-turbo engine sourced from the Nissan GT-R which in this application generates more than 500 bhp (373 kW) and a peak torque of 442 lb-ft (600 Nm). Output is channeled to the rear wheels with help from a 6-speed Sadev sequential transmission enabling the R.S. 01 go pass the 186 mph (300 km/h) mark.


The track-only vehicle has received 18-inch Braid alloy wheels wrapped around in bespoke Michelin tires, with stopping power being provided by carbon discs measuring 380mm and matched with 6-piston calipers.
