Skoda teases third generation Fabia

Czech automaker Skoda has released a teaser image for the third generation Fabia supermini which will be unveiled in a short while. In this single image we take a look at the headlight design which closely resembles the one fitted onto the facelifted Volkswagen Polo. The overall look of the model won’t stray away too far from the current car but will boast influences from the larger Rapid and Octavia models. Production of the model is said to begin towards the end of this month so it can’t be too long until the Volkswagen-owned brand will show us the 2014 Fabia hatchback and possibly the wagon as well.

The vehicle will make use of a Euro 6-compliant engine lineup encompassing gasoline units ranging from a three-cylinder 1.0 MPI up to a four-cylinder 1.2 TSI, with power ranging from 60 PS to 110 PS.  There will also be three versions of a new 3-cylinder 1.4-liter turbodiesel rated at 75 PS and 105 PS, along with a more frugal 75 PS variant in the economical GreenLine model set to come out late 2015.

Skoda has already announced the overhauled Fabia will be up to 65 kg (143 lbs) lighter than the model it replaces and fuel consumption across the range will go down by 17 percent.
