Subaru starts teasing the BRZ STI
Subaru is preparing the automotive world for the STI version of the BRZ by releasing a couple of teasers which by definition aren’t conclusive at all. It was in 2011 when the Japanese marque previewed this car with a concept at the Los Angeles Auto Show so we assume the production version will be revealed at the same venue in November this year.
You should expect to see a beefed up body kit with new aero bits and pieces, together with a large rear wing, different front grille, front lip spoiler, updated side skirts, 18-inch rims and STI-specific brakes.
Rumors say that Subaru won’t provide turbocharging for the BRZ STI simply because there isn’t enough room available to squeeze in an intercooler. However, the car will get more power than the standard model (which has 200 HP) as Subaru will allegedly do some variable control system tweaks and increase the rev limit beyond 7,500 rpm. As a result of these changes, output should be bumped to somewhere in the region of 232 HP (171 kW).
