Toyota unleashes TS040 HYBRID with 1,000 HP

Toyota has taken the wraps off the TS040 HYBRID yesterday in France at the Paul Ricard Circuit, ahead of the car’s racing debut in this year’s World Endurance Championship (WEC). The vehicle represents an evolution of the TS030 HYBRID and meets all the stringent regulations implemented by FIA. The Japanese marque says they managed to increase the vehicle’s downforce while at the same time reduce fuel consumption by 25 percent. The #7 car is going to be driven by Alex Wurz, Stéphane Sarrazin and Kazuki Nakajima while behind the wheel of car #8 will be Sébastien Buemi, Nicolas Lapierre and Anthony Davidson.

Power of the 2014 Toyota TS040 HYBRID comes from a V8 3.7-liter gasoline engine generating 520 HP which works together with a four-wheel drive hybrid system encompassing a front-mounted AISIN AW motor-generator along with a rear-mounted DENSO unit. This system puts out 480 HP so the vehicle has a combined output of 1,000 HP.
