Video – 2016 Mercedes GLS spied

The 2016 Mercedes GLS has been spied undergoing final testing on public roads in Germany. As you can see from the attached footage, it was being driven at a very slow pace and it carried light camouflage, thus indicating the cosmetic tweaks will be kept down to a minimum. Expect to see slightly revised front and rear bumpers and possibly a new look for the hood whereas the lighting clusters are bound to receive new graphics in the same vein as recent products with the three-pointed star logo. There are also going to be some tweaks inside the cabin in line with the GLE & GLE Coupe, but don’t expect any major changes.

The 2016 Mercedes GLS could receive fresh 22-inch alloy wheels and an optional night package while updates to the safety & assistance systems are also being planned together with a revised infotainment system. The engine lineup will closely mirror the aforementioned GLE from where the facelifted GL (to be called GLS) will also borrow the engines.

Chances are we will get to see the full-size SUV in mid-September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but Mercedes-Benz will likely show the car online before the end of this month. Sales of the GLS will commence late this year while deliveries should start early 2016.
