Volkswagen Beetle Dune concept fully revealed in Detroit

Several photos of the Volkswagen Beetle Dune concept surfaced the web a couple of days ago and now the vehicle has gone official at NAIAS in Detroit. Volkswagen is describing its latest concept as a “Baja Bug for the 21st Century” and it’s based on the Beetle R-Line but with 19-inch alloys, two-piece wheel arch extensions and an Arizona metallic paint. It also has received an increased ride height, brushed aluminum rock panels and a chrome-plated skid plate. Other features worth mentioning would have to be the ventilated hood, bi-xenon headlights, two rear spoilers, dual exhaust setup and honeycomb mesh front grille inserts.

On the inside there are two-tone sport seats and a 7.7-inch touchscreen display for the infotainment system. Volkswagen also put some “Dune” badges, along with aluminum accents and an Arizona-painted trim. Power comes from a 4-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo with 210 bhp working with a dual-clutch six-speed DSG delivering the output to the front axle with help from an XDS electronic differential.
