Volkswagen introduces 2015 Passat Alltrack

Volkswagen has introduced the 2015 Passat Alltrack which comes with a number of modifications over the Variant upon which is based. First up, the model sits 27.5 mm higher and benefits from a slightly more rugged body thanks to the plastic cladding added onto the sill trims and wheel arches while the bumpers have been modified to increase the car’s approach and departure angels. Also noticeable are the stainless steel underbody plates which provide additional protection to the car’s components whenever travelling on bumpy roads where there’s an increased risk of damaging the underside.

As you would expect, the 2015 Passat Alltrack is equipped as standard with a 4MOTION all-wheel drive system which normally sends power to the front wheels but it will automatically provide drive to the rear wheels whenever additional grip is necessary. Moreover, the differential lock is capable of channeling the engine’s output to the wheel which has the most traction.

Compared to the regular Passat Variant, the new Alltrack derivative benefits from an “off road” driving mode that will increase the vehicle’s grip on slippery roads by modifying the throttle response, braking input as well as the hill start and descent systems.

Under the hood it can get a 1.4 TSI with 150 HP, a 2.0 TSI with 220 HP and a trio of 2.0 TDI developing 150 HP, 190 HP and 240 HP. When equipped with either the 2.0 TSI or the 240 HP 2.0 TDI, the 2015 Passat Alltrack comes as standard with the XDS+ system which will apply the brakes to the inside wheels as a method to boost stability during fast cornering.
