Volkswagen Golf GTD tweaked by MR Racing

German tuner MR Racing has upgraded the latest generation Volkswagen Golf GTD. The hot diesel hatchback has been pampered with a body kit from Rieger which features new side skirts, custom front spoiler lip and blade, along with a rear diffuser while the 40mm front arch extensions are also part of the package. It now sits on 20-inch alloy wheels shod in Hankook Ventus S1 Evo tires measuring 235/30 R20 while a height-adjustable KW Variant 3 coilover suspension has also been added. For an extra €1,699, customers can ask MR Racing to install a sound generator system which will mimic the sound provided by a beefier V8 engine and it will be user controllable through an optional Wi-Fi receiver and an iOS/Android app.

There are also some tweaks underneath the hood where the 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine no longer produces 184 PS (135 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque as its output has been boosted to 221 PS (162 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) thanks to a software optimization and a new K&N air filter.

MR Racing hasn’t specified any performance numbers, but this particular Volkswagen Golf GTD should be a tad quicker than the stock car which sprints to 62 mph (100 km/h) in seven and a half seconds before hitting a maximum speed of 143 mph (230 km/h).
