The seventh generation of the Volkswagen Golf GTI has arrived in UK where it has a starting price of 25,845 pounds. Under the bonnet is a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine capable of producing 220 HP (162 kW) and a peak torque of 350 Nm (258 lb-ft). It is connected to a 6-speed manual gearbox which enables the car to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 153 mph (246 km/h). The GTI Performance variant costs an extra 980 pounds and has 230 HP (169 kW). This one reaches 62 mph in 6.4s and a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). It also has larger disc brakes and a limited slip differential.
As standard, the new Golf GTI benefits from red ambience lightning, black roof lining, sports steering wheel, Jacara cloth upholstery, dual zone climate control, different instrument cluster and gear lever, stainless steel pedal caps, plus a touchscreen system with support for DAB digital radio, iPod and Bluetooth.
For additional money it can be configured with keyless entry, rear view camera, 19-inch wheels, touchscreen sat-nav, Dynaudio sound system, high beam assist and Vienna leather upholstery.
