Volkswagen XL Sport concept storms into Paris with Ducati engine

Volkswagen is exhibiting these days at the Paris Motor Show the very interesting XL Sport concept which has been equipped with the most powerful two-cylinder engine in the world. It’s actually a motorcycle engine sourced from the Ducati 1199 Superleggera and generates an impressive 197 bhp, enough to allow the vehicle complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 5.7 seconds before topping out at 168 mph (270 km/h). This little 1199cc motor can be revved up to an impressive 11,000 rpm and works together with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission sending output to the forged magnesium-alloy 18-inch wheels shod in 205/40 R18 front & 265/35 R18 rear tires.
The Volkswagen XL Sport concept weighs only 900 kg (1,962 lbs) thanks to numerous weight-saving measures such as the carbon fiber reinforced plastic body panels and ceramic brakes. It has a drag coefficient of only 0.28 and has received a pushrod rear suspension, wing doors, titanium connecting rods and several parts made from magnesium-alloy.
On the inside there’s a carbon fiber cowl that extends across the top of the instrument cluster and we also notice the implementation of a race-spec digital instrument cluster providing the driver with all the necessary and relevant information.
