Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid R-Design announced

Swedish automaker Volvo has introduced an R-Design version of the V60 Plug-in Hybrid that has received a different front bumper and grille. It can also be distinguished by its Ixion 18-inch rims and rear diffuser, while on the inside there are sports pedals, floor mats and seats, along with the company’s On Call system that enables the user to access car functions by using a smartphone application. In UK the model carries a starting price of 51,675 pounds for the base D6 AWD R-Design Lux Nav variant and does not include the 5,000-pound Plug-In Car Grant.

When deliveries will start this August, all of the cars will be powered by a 2.4-liter, five-cylinder turbodiesel engine outputting 215 PS and 440 Nm delivered to the front axle. The rear axle is powered by an electric motor generating 70 PS and 200 Nm. The hardware setup also contains a 6-speed automatic transmission and a lithium-ion battery pack that has a capacity of 11.2 kWh.


It has a total range of 621 miles and can run in electric mode for 31 miles. In power mode the car will need only 6.9 seconds to complete the 0-100 km/h, while in hybrid mode it can return an impressive 155.2 mpg UK in the NEDC cycle.
