The 2015 Volkswagen California has made its online debut and as you would imagine it’s based on the latest generation Transporter. The standard model comes generously equipped with a removable picnic table, manual pop-top, blinds, folding chairs and can carry up to seven people. The mid-range California Coast benefits from higher-end furniture with wood and aluminum accents along with a cooking area that includes a two burner stove, stainless steel sink and a 42-liter cooler. Upgrade to the flagship California Ocean and you also get a power pop-top roof, double glazed windows, an auxiliary heating seating and dimmable LED headlights.
In terms of engines, the 2015 Volkswagen California will be available with several TDI turbodiesel units ranging in power from 84 PS to 204 PS. Later on, these will be joined by a couple of TSI turbocharged gasoline engines developing 149 PS and 204 PS.
It should be mentioned the new T6-based California benefits from adaptive chassis control and has the latest generation infotainment system while the TDI engines all meet Euro 6 emission standards and come with the BlueMotion technology with standard start/stop system.
Already available on order, the 2015 Volkswagen California carries a starting price of €41,429.85 at home in Germany.
