Carlsson unveils SLK 340 race car

Well-known tuner Carlsson has prepared a heavily modified version of the Mercedes-Benz SLK which is planned to debut this March at the 2013 edition of the Geneva Motor Show. The project was developed exclusively for the Meisel Motorsport team which will race it in various international hill climb events. As the official images show, it boasts an extremely aggressive body kit including a new front splitter, diffuser and rear wing. It has also been fitted with an adjustable competition suspension created by KW, along with high performance brakes. It sits on 18-inch BBS racing wheels which have been wrapped around in AVON rubbers.

At the moment there aren’t any photos showing the interior cabin, but Carlsson did mention it will have a roll cage which meets “all relevant international requirements”, along with Fibreworks racing seats. Motivation comes from a V8 3.4-liter engine producing 449 kW (610 HP) and 317 lb-ft (430 Nm) of torque. This power unit is mated to a Hewland gearbox which will probably make the car extremely quick taking into account that it weighs only 1,719 lbs (780 kg).

Further details will be available in March when the car gets its first public outing.
