Callaway develops Chevrolet Corvette Stingray AeroWagon

There could be a niche market for this special shooting brake-styled version of the recently introduced 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. It was developed by Callaway and it is called the AeroWagon. If they receive enough orders, this new body style for the C7 will enter production and is expected to cost about $15,000 more than a regular Corvette.

The rear hatch of the special vehicle will feature several structural components manufactured from carbon fiber and developed through Callaway’s Resin Transfer Molding proprietary process.

Although there is no mention about which engine will power the Stingray AeroWagon, Callaway does say the car will be capable of reaching a top speed of more than 200 mph (322 km/h). We believe it won’t be the standard 6.2-liter V8 engine with its 450 hp (335 kW) since this isn’t powerful enough to allow the car to hit those speeds.

Deliveries are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of the year, with the condition that there are enough orders to make the production feasible.
