Chevrolet launches 2015 Corvette Z06 at NAIAS
Chevrolet is presenting in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show the range-topping Z06 variant of the Corvette which is programmed to go on sale towards the end of the year. Its heart and soul is an LT4 6.2-liter V8 supercharged engine benefiting from an Eaton 1.7-liter supercharger as well as an intercooler. Chevrolet mentions the power unit can develop at least 625 bhp and a peak torque of 635 lb-ft. The engine is mated to a seven-speed manual transmission or a new eight-speed automatic which is 8 lbs lighter than the six-speed auto mounted in the regular Corvette C7 Stingray.
Customers willing to pay more will have the possibility of opting for a carbon fiber aerodynamic package bringing a front splitter with aviation-inspired winglets, rocker panels and a larger rear spoiler which will all be manufactured from carbon fiber. There’s also the Z07 package encompassing carbon ceramic-matrix brakes, see-through center section and Michelin Sport Super Sport Cup Tires. The 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 will sit on 19-inch front wheels wrapped around in P285/30 ZR19 tires and on 20-inch rear alloys shod in 335/25ZR20.
