Ferrari 488 GTB unleashed with 670 HP twin-turbo V8 engine

The Ferrari 488 GTB has officially been revealed and it was certainly worth the wait. An evolution of the 458 Italia, the new model replaces the old naturally aspirated engine with a V8 3.9-liter twin-turbo engine capable of developing 670 HP (493 kW) and 760 Nm (560 lb-ft) of torque. The hardware setup grants Ferrari’s latest prancing horse with the following performances: 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3 seconds; 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) in 8.3 seconds; 205 mph (330 km/h) top speed and a lap around Fiorano in 1 minute and 23 seconds.

The power generated by the turbocharged engine is transferred to the rear wheels via a revised dual clutch 7-speed gearbox equipped with variable torque management. As for the design, it’s an evolution of the 458 Italia combined with a modern interpretation of the 308 GTB while inside the cabin there are a few minor tweaks as well.

The Ferrari 488 GTB will be seen in the flesh for the first time in about a month from now at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. Chances are the model will receive a Spider derivative in the second half of the year, with the Frankfurt Motor Show in September being the proper venue for an official public debut.
