Fiat launches facelifted 500 with minor tweaks

Fiat has taken the wraps off the facelifted 500 city car scheduled to go on sale this fall. The Italian marque mentions they made a whopping 1,800 design changes although it’s hard to identify most of them as we only notice the redesigned front and rear bumpers along with different graphics for the headlights and taillights. Also new are the LED circular daytime running lights and somewhat different upper and lower front grille benefiting from a chrome treatment. Fiat has repositioned the reversing and fog lights to the bumper trim’s extremities while the side profile shows a more inclined beltline and new 15- and 16-inch alloy wheel designs.

Glam Coral and Avantgarde Bordeaux body paints have been added to the range while inside the cabin there’s a 5-inch Uconnect infotainment system, updated steering wheel and an optional 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Fiat is also introducing more ergonomic seats on the facelifted 500 that can be had with fresh seat upholsteries and will benefit from now on from extra sound-deadening material located in the firewall and wheelhouse.

As far as the engines are concerned, the cute Italian city car can be had with a 1.2-liter developing 69 bhp and a 0.9-liter TwinAir producing 85 bhp & 105 bhp. These will eventually be joined by a 1.2-liter eco engine and a 16v 1.3-liter MultiJet II packing a 95 bhp diesel punch.
