Ford shows off the Mustang Apollo Edition
Ford is showcasing the one-off Mustang Apollo Edition based on the 2015 Mustang GT. It will be showcased on July 23rd at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 201 and as you can see it features several customizations such as the sport-tuned suspension, black & white exterior paint scheme inspired by NASA’s Apollo program while up front there’s a splitter made from carbon fiber. It also gets LED underbody lights and a rear diffuser while the flashy 21-inch Forgiato wheels work together with the 6-piston brake calipers.
As for the interior, it gets black leather seats with red contrast stitching and white accents, along with bespoke floor mats, unique sill plates and instead of rear seats it gets a leather cover which boasts a few patches from previous Apollo missions.
Motivation is provided by a V8 5.0-liter engine that has received a supercharger from Ford Performance along with a sports exhaust system. These upgrades have bumped output of the engine to a beefy 627 bhp and 540 lb-ft of torque.
The Blue Oval company has announced all the money earned after selling the Mustang Apollo Edition will go to EAA youth education programs, including here the Young Eagles which since 1992 have been offering free introductory flights to almost 2 million young people.
