Ford Transit Connect Wagon offers seven seats and 30+ mpg

Ford has announced a new minivan that will go on sale in the fall of next year. It’s called the Transit Connect Wagon and will be available in five- and seven-seat versions with a choice of two wheelbase lengths. It is based on the 2014MY Transit Connect commercial van and can provide a payload of up to 1,200 pounds (544 kg) and it can tow as much as 2,000 pounds (907 kg). Under the hood it is offered as standard with a 4-cylinder 2.5-liter engine and for more money the 1.6-liter EcoBoost turbo unit that promises to return more than 30 mpg on the highway. Both of them are linked as standard to a 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The Ford Transit Connect Wagon comes with a sliding rear door for both sides and can get three rows of seats with a 2+3+2 layout. It is important to mention that the middle row seat can be split 60/40, while the third row benefits from independent fore-and-aft sliding capabilities. Customers will have to choose between symmetrical, side-hinged cargo doors and a rear liftgate.

Some of the technology available for this MPV includes the SYNC infotainment system that comes with a 6.5-inch touchscreen display with navigation, along with a rear-view camera, a full-glass panoramic roof, as well as heavy-duty or leather seats.
