2013 Audi S3 Sportback unveiled

The three-door version of the Audi S3 came out towards the end of 2012 and now the German company has launched the more practical five-door Sportback version. It has retained the same TFSI direct-injection 2.0-liter turbo engine generating 300 HP (221 kW) and a maximum torque of 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) available between 1,800 rpm and 5,500 rpm.

When linked to the manual transmission, the 2013 Audi S3 Sportback will complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 5.5 seconds, whereas with the optional six-speed S Tronic it will do the run in only five seconds.

Audi has set an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), regardless of the gearbox chosen. With the manual one, the car will return 33.6 mpg US (7 liters / 100 km or 40.3 mpg UK) while with the aforementioned S tronic it will return 34.09 mpg US (6.9 liters / 100 km or 40.8 mpg UK).

The vehicle tips the scales at 3,185 lbs (1,445 kg) so it is 154 lbs (70 kg) lighter than the model it replaces in Audi’s lineup. It rides on 18-inch alloys with 225/40 low-rolling resistance tires. All that power is sent through the permanent quattro AWD system.
