2014 Nissan Versa Sedan is the cheapest car in U.S., starts from $11,990

If you are on the look for extremely affordable transportation, look no further as Nissan has the right car for you. We are talking about the 2014 Versa Sedan which is one again the most affordable car on sale in the United States. It has a starting price of $11,990, without taking into account the $790 destination charges. Under the hood it gets a modest 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder 16-valve DOHC gasoline engine outputting 109 bhp (81 kW) and a peak torque of 145 Nm (107 lb-ft). The engine is mated as standard to a 5-speed automatic but for an extra $1,000 it can be linked to a 4-speed automatic.

With the manual transmission it returns 26 mpg city in the city, 35 mpg on the highway and 30 mpg in the combined cycle, while with the latter it does 31 / 40 / 35.

The list of standard amenities is quite short as you only get AM/FM/CD/AUX-in sound system, air conditioning and a 6-way adjustable driver’s seat. More upscale versions receive a 4.3-inch display, 16-inch wheels, tri-cot headliner, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, key fob trunk release, low-rolling resistance tires and a 60/40-split fold-down rear seat.
