The 2016 Toyota Hilux is back in another teaser video prior to a full reveal scheduled for May 21. The design seems to have undergone a subtle evolution which has made the pick-up truck appear more refined compared to the outgoing model while on the inside it is expected to receive a more car-like interior.
More important changes have occurred underneath the hood where Toyota is eliminating the KD engines to make room for a new array of GD units which were revealed last week during the Vienna Motor Symposium.
The ESTEC – Superior Thermal Efficient Combustion engine will initially encompass a 2.4-liter turbodiesel producing 160 bhp and 295 lb-ft, along with a larger 2.8-liter rated at 177 bhp and 332 lb-ft.
These two engines are going to be coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission and both of them will come equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger.
