2015 Volkswagen e-Golf announced for United States

Those of you who are living in United States and are on the look for an electric hatchback might want to know that Volkswagen has announced plans to offer the 2015MY e-Golf from the fourth quarter of this year. It’s actually the first car with a Volkswagen badge that will come with full LED headlights in United States. The German marque says the model has an average range varying from 70 to 90 miles, while the maximum range stands at 115 miles. Charging the 24.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack takes 20 hours with a 110/120-volt charge or less than 4 hours with a 240-volt wallbox.

Motivation of the 2015 Volkswagen e-Golf is provided by an electric motor producing 115 PS and 270 Nm. The entire car weighs 1,401 kg while 318 kg from that weight is in the battery pack. In terms of performances, the car needs 10 seconds to hit 60 mph from a standstill on its way to an electronically-limited top speed of 87 mph.
